Winter in Chilliwack is no joke, from icy roads to driving up and down the snow-covered mountains. You need a vehicle that can take on harsh cold weather conditions. Jeep® and Ram are great brand options for your winter travel needs. These are some reasons why you should drive a Jeep®or Ram vehicle during Chilliwack winters.
You already know about the Jeep® brand’s legendary 4×4 systems, but did you know that Ram trucks are available with them too? A 4×4 drive system can greatly increase your vehicle’s grip on the road, whether you’re crossing ice, snow, or just some rocky terrain. It sends power to all four wheels, giving you better traction.
Rugged and Durable
Both of these brands are built to withstand harsh conditions. Whether you’re behind the wheel of a Wrangler or a Ram 2500, you can have the peace of mind that they were built to last.
For instance, many Jeep® vehicles are Trail Rated®, which means they’ve undergone extensive testing in the following areas: traction, water fording, manoeuvrability, articulation, and ground clearance. Ram trucks have a high-strength steel frame that is constructed for towing, hauling, and other tough work.
Whichever utility brand you buy at O’Conner Chrysler Dodge Jeep® Ram, you can trust that it’s equipped for safe winter driving in Chilliwack.
Canadian winters are nothing to mess around with. From frigid temperatures to snowy roads, you really need a truck that can get around with ease in the winter. But should you choose a truck with 4×4 or all-wheel drive (AWD)? This guide breaks down the two options, explaining which option is best to take on the winter months.
4×4 Drive System
With a full-time 4×4 drive system, your vehicle will send power from the engine to all four wheels, all the time. As the driver, you can typically select either low or high ranges to get the type of traction you need. Because of this, a 4×4 vehicle for the winter is always a good option — especially if you need a truck. A 4×4 truck like the RAM 1500 or Jeep Gladiator doesn’t use 4×4 all the time, but instead adjusts where it sends the power depending on what the road conditions are. This specific drive system is the better choice for deep snow and extreme winter conditions, which is ideal for BC winters.
Like 4×4 systems, all-wheel drive (AWD) sends power to all four of the vehicle’s wheels, allowing you to get the traction you need when you need it. Unlike the 4×4 system, though, AWD doesn’t give you control over the range of your AWD. Instead, it works automatically. Because of this, while AWD is good in inclement weather, it’s not as good as the 4×4 system for the Chilliwack cold season.
